The Donegal Township Police Department began providing service to Independence Township on May 19, 2025. Our officers are here to protect and serve our residents and ensure a safe and secure environment. You will see the cruisers patrolling our streets regularly. The officers will provide fair, objective and professional service, enforce law & local ordinances, and provide community-oriented policing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Independence Township Board of Supervisors had been working to put a dedicated local police force back on our streets since the arrangement with the McDonald Police Force ended in 2023, due to a shortage of officers. Safety and security is always our primary concern here, and residents have always expressed a shared desire for having a local force. A contract with Donegal had been initiated soon after the McDonald contract ended, and we are so pleased that, as of May 2025, there is now enough manpower to provide service here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
